In brief
This division deals mainly with natural hazards related to the slopes instabilities, áparticularly landslides and waterways transport of solid material (the so-called debris flows) but it also studies geo-mechanics and geo-resources.

In the field of natural hazards the data derived from the monitoring of slopes movements are used to perform 2D and 3D numerical analysis and physical-mathematical models. These models aim to define the degree of hazard posed by phenomena such as large landslides, rock fall and debris flows, and to predict and mitigate theirs effects.

The CatchRisk project provides an example of what has being done in this context: this application focuses on areas and scenarios typical of the Alpine valleys.
